Cacao pods are the fruits of the cacao tree. Successfully pollinated flowers mature into this ribbed and oval fruit. the ripening process takes about five months, the thick shelled cacao pod contains «murcilage» a sweet white pulp, that surrounds the bitter cacao beans.
